The Goal

This plan is built around Lila’s verified score report and a target test date of Saturday, August 22, 2026.

Measure Current Minimum useful target Strong target
Total 1240 1280+ 1340+
Reading and Writing 670 Maintain 650-680 680+
Math 570 630+ 650-670

What the Score Report Says

Reading and Writing

  • 670, 89th percentile in the College Board comparison
  • Strongest domains:
    • Craft and Structure
    • Standard English Conventions
  • Maintenance domains:
    • Expression of Ideas
    • Information and Ideas

Math

  • 570, 70th percentile in the College Board comparison
  • Strongest visible domain: Algebra
  • First repair target: Problem-Solving and Data Analysis
  • Second repair target: Advanced Math
  • Geometry and Trigonometry should be checked on the first Bluebook diagnostic because its complete performance band was not visible in the supplied screenshots

Time allocation

  • 75% Math
  • 25% Reading and Writing maintenance
  • Approximately 5.5 to 7 hours per week
  • No routine weekday session longer than 45-50 minutes

The Standard Study Session

Use the same structure every weekday so studying is predictable.

  1. 5 minutes — retrieval warm-up
    • Redo two previously missed questions without notes
  2. 25 minutes — one targeted skill
    • Use official Student Question Bank or Khan Academy material
  3. 10 minutes — correction
    • Explain why the correct method works and why the original approach failed
  4. 5 minutes — error log
    • Record the question, error type, correct method, and retry dates

Weekly Rhythm

Day Default work
Monday Highest-priority Math skill
Tuesday Same domain, new skill
Wednesday Second Math domain or graphing-calculator skill
Thursday Timed mixed set plus short Reading and Writing maintenance
Friday Off or catch-up only
Saturday Long practice block or Bluebook test
Sunday Error review, retries, and next-week setup

Week 1 — July 13-19

Establish the real baseline

Monday — Setup

  • Confirm the August 22 registration
  • Open or install Bluebook
  • Bookmark My Practice, the Student Question Bank, and Official Digital SAT Prep on Khan Academy
  • Create the error log using the fields below

Tuesday — Percentages, ratios, and units

  • Learn or review percent change, percent of a quantity, ratios, rates, and unit conversions
  • Complete 15-20 untimed official questions

Wednesday — Data interpretation

  • Practice tables, scatterplots, mean, median, range, and interpreting a line of best fit
  • Complete 15-20 untimed official questions

Thursday — Advanced Math check

  • Complete 15 mixed questions on equivalent expressions, quadratics, exponentials, radicals, and rational expressions
  • Record which skills are conceptual misses rather than timing errors

Saturday — Full Bluebook diagnostic

  • Take one unused official full-length test under realistic conditions
  • Use the device planned for test day
  • Do not pause except during the scheduled break

Sunday — Deep review

  • Review every missed or guessed Math question
  • Record the Geometry and Trigonometry result
  • Classify each miss as:
    • concept
    • setup/translation
    • calculation
    • careless reading
    • time management
    • calculator/tool choice

Week 1 checkpoint: a complete error map, not a particular score.

Week 2 — July 20-26

Repair Problem-Solving and Data Analysis

Monday: ratios, rates, proportions, and unit conversions
Tuesday: percentages, percent change, tax, discount, and growth
Wednesday: one-variable data, center, spread, and distributions
Thursday: scatterplots, probability, sampling, margin of error, and study design
Saturday: two timed sets of 15 official questions, separated by a short break
Sunday: retry every miss without notes

Start with easy and medium questions. Move to hard questions only after reaching at least 80% correct twice on the skill.

Week 2 checkpoint: at least 80% correct untimed and 70% correct timed on medium Problem-Solving/Data Analysis questions.

Week 3 — July 27-August 2

Raise Advanced Math

Monday — Equivalent expressions

  • Factoring
  • Exponent rules
  • Rewriting expressions strategically

Tuesday — Quadratics and nonlinear equations

  • Factoring and roots
  • Vertex and intercept meaning
  • Linear-quadratic systems

Wednesday — Exponential, radical, and rational relationships

  • Growth and decay
  • Domain restrictions
  • Extraneous solutions

Thursday — Graphing-calculator strategy

  • Graph both sides to locate solutions
  • Use tables to inspect patterns
  • Check intersections and zeros
  • Know when algebra is faster than graphing

Saturday — Full Bluebook practice test

  • Take a different unused official test
  • Review it in My Practice

Sunday — Review and retry

  • Review every missed and guessed Math problem
  • Use the tailored practice links from My Practice

Week 3 checkpoint: Math practice score trending toward 600-620 with fewer setup errors.

Week 4 — August 3-9

Geometry, Trigonometry, and mixed execution

Monday: angles, triangles, similarity, and special right triangles
Tuesday: circles, arcs, sectors, and equations of circles
Wednesday: area, volume, scale factors, and coordinate geometry
Thursday: Pythagorean theorem and basic trigonometric ratios
Saturday: one timed Math module followed by 20 Reading and Writing questions split between Information and Ideas and Expression of Ideas
Sunday: error review and seven-day retries

Keep Algebra active with five mixed Algebra questions at the start of each Math session.

Week 4 checkpoint: no Math domain left unpracticed and at least 80% accuracy on medium mixed questions.

Week 5 — August 10-16

Convert skill gains into a score

Monday: weakest remaining Problem-Solving/Data Analysis skill
Tuesday: weakest remaining Advanced Math skill
Wednesday: one hard mixed Math set under time
Thursday: Reading and Writing maintenance plus ten medium Math confidence questions
Saturday — Final full Bluebook test: use an unused official test under exact test-day conditions
Sunday: review only recurring errors and update the final-week list

Week 6 — August 17-22

Taper and arrive rested

Monday: 20 targeted Math questions from the two weakest remaining skills
Tuesday: 20 mixed Math questions, medium difficulty
Wednesday: one timed Math module, then complete review
Thursday: ten Reading and Writing questions and ten familiar Math questions; stop while confidence is high
Friday: no full test and no heavy new material
Saturday: SAT

Friday checklist

  • Complete Bluebook exam setup and confirm the admission ticket
  • Fully charge the device and bring the charger
  • Confirm identification and permitted calculator backup
  • Prepare water and an approved snack
  • Confirm transportation and arrival time
  • Use the normal bedtime; do not trade sleep for extra questions

Error Log

Use one row per missed or guessed question.

Field What to record
Date/source Practice test or question-bank set
Domain and skill Example: Problem-Solving/Data Analysis — percentages
Difficulty Easy, medium, or hard
Error type Concept, setup, calculation, reading, timing, or tool choice
Correct method One or two sentences in Lila’s own words
48-hour retry Correct without notes: yes/no
Seven-day retry Correct without notes: yes/no

Mastery rule

A skill is stable when Lila can:

  1. Reach 80% or better twice on official medium questions
  2. Solve the same type under time
  3. Explain the method without the answer explanation
  4. Pass both the 48-hour and seven-day retries

Practice-Test Rules

  • Use Bluebook adaptive tests for the three full-length checkpoints
  • Use a different unused test each time
  • Recreate test-day timing, device, scratch paper, calculator, and breaks
  • Review guessed questions even when they were correct
  • Spend at least as much time reviewing a full test as taking it
  • Do not take a full test during the final five days

Score-Submission Rule

Penn State uses the highest combined score from one test date and does not superscore.

  • Below 1280 total or below 630 Math: default to test-optional for University Park/Eberly
  • 1280+ total and 630+ Math: reconsider submission alongside the complete transcript
  • 1340+ total and 650-670 Math: likely useful supporting evidence for University Park
  • 1360+ total: also reaches the current top published WVU merit-score threshold, assuming the GPA requirement remains satisfied

The final decision should use the official score, the current Penn State profile, and the scholarship rules available when applications are submitted.

Bottom Line

Lila does not need to rebuild the part of the SAT that is already working.

The six-week job is:

  1. Preserve the 670 Reading and Writing strength
  2. Repair Problem-Solving and Data Analysis
  3. Raise Advanced Math
  4. Practice mixed Math under real timing
  5. Reach test day rested and familiar with Bluebook

The most meaningful outcome is not perfection. It is moving Math from 570 toward 630+ while keeping the total score balanced enough to become useful rather than optional evidence.
